It’s… growing? attached to? a tree near the boy’s day care. Been there for weeks.

Reminds me of the gypsy moth nests in the 70s.

I don’t think it’s either of those things– in fact, I’m pretty sure those are both the same thing. 🙂 Webworms (which is what we call them in this part of the country) tend to take over entire trees or at least big chunks of them, and this is just sorta chilling at the end of one branch. And it’s also gotten… crunchy, for lack of a better word, where I don’t think I’ve ever seen a webworm nest do that before. The picture is blurrier than I wanted it to be. I’m thisclose to just cutting the branch off into a container that can be sealed and dissecting it at home. 🙂

I wouldn’t dissect it at home, just in case it’s full of unspeakable horrors. Could it be some sort of spid/ wasp nesty thing? I’d get a pest guy out in case.

Literally just said this on Facebook: “It looks like a snake ate the branch and then died on it and shriveled up, and then a second snake ate that snake and also died and shriveled up.”
