Turns out that coming up with compelling blogging material while watching Orange is the New Black is not terribly easy.
Also, I feel like this is not how a prison riot would be dealt with in the real world. I’m sure this is not the first time OITNB has been referred to as unrealistic but… they’re kinda setting a new record with this one.
Have a Bowling for Soup song. It’s been running through my head all day.
I was unstoppable today, guys. I interacted with fourteen customers and sold things to eleven of them. My per-ticket could have been better, but after the disaster that was September, it’s nice to feel good at my job for once.
(Note: I have never seen Glengarry Glen Ross in its entirety. Or even any part other than that one. But I’ve seen that clip a million times.)
Now, that said, selling furniture and furniture-related products and services to strangers was basically all my day consisted of. My wife and I have discovered Black Mirror, and we’re watching the second episode of the first season right now. I’m sure I’ll have stuff to say about that in the near future, because so far the show is damn impressive.
I have a decent chance at a record week if I have a good Sunday. So, like, come out and buy things. Expensive things. I will get money and you will have expensive things. Ain’t that America?
Today has featured an auto repair shop declining work on a car because it would be too expensive and complicated, damn near falling asleep while driving my kid to school (unrelated to the car work! I swear!) because apparently none of last night’s sleep took, lost toddler shoes, verbose teacherly apologies, an entire pot of coffee, a couple of hours of resultant heart palpitations, beta reading, utter ridiculousness on Twitter, preparations for a toddler (not mine) birthday party, taquitos, and somehow dragging the beaten and lifeless carcass of the Sunlight manuscript across the 40,000 word mark.
Guess which part was my favorite.
I am exhausted. I’d be happy that it’s the weekend, but 1) this weekend is going to be busy as hell, and 2) I’m unemployed at the moment so it’s not like weekends are any different from any other day.
In other words, have a couple of music videos, because I am done for the day.
