And I just started London: The Biography, so even if we don’t take school starting into account, that’s gonna lighten next month considerably.

You just started London, and it is already in the read pile? Do I not understand how unread-read works? (I may not. I pretty much literally lost my marbles this week.)

So the Unread Shelf is in my bedroom and those are all books I haven’t touched yet. There are some books I haven’t read yet elsewhere in the house; if that happens it’s usually because I bought three books in a series at once or something like that.
Any book I start during a given month shows up in Monthly Reads, just to make it easier to figure out what to put in the pile at the end of the month. In practice this means that there is almost always one book in that pile that I haven’t finished yet, unless the timing works out perfectly and I finish something on the last day of the month.
