I am just destined to fail at this shit.

Would comparison help? As in, compare a book written in English to its Arabic translation. Seeing pictures of covers of Arabic translations of Neil Gaiman books in one of my social media feeds gave me the idea.
It wouldn’t help with speaking, of course.

I just need to buckle down and study. I’m not going to learn this by halfassing this and whining a lot.

There’s another language app I keep seeing advertised by ytubers I trust called Babel. Maybe that’s worth a shot?

I tried out the free trial a couple of years ago, and I found it way too expensive and WAY too blasé about teaching letters. Babel wanted me to start with memorizing entire sentences phonetically right off the bat, and that just wasn’t going to happen.

My mistake— I was thinking of Rosetta Stone. Babbel, sadly, doesn’t offer Arabic, at least not on the iOS app.

Huh, just looked and they don’t seem to have many languages at all. Perhaps it’s a good thing that they’ve specialised. I hope you find a method that suits you. I don’t know if this guy will tell you anything you don’t know to help you, but you might get a kick out of some of the nerd/ geek vids https://www.youtube.com/@languagejones6784/videos
