Have you ever abandoned a long-term hobby? Not, like, because you weren’t physically capable of it any longer for some reason or some external reason, but just realized you weren’t interested in something that you’d been doing for decades and stopped doing it?
Not asking for any reason. Really.
(And absolutely not talking about the blog.)

Serious photography. That was my artistic outlet got so long but now I actually make things with my hands and don’t feel the need to take pictures except with my phone. I haven’t even bothered to take my very expensive but outdated camera on a trip for the last couple of years.

I have ADHD, so yes. Yes, I have. Some special interests last days (awkward when the moment has passed before the Amazon package arrived) to months, to years, to decades.
Right now I’m floundering around thousands and thousands and thousands of Magic the Gathering cards (both late husbands played, too). It’s really time for them to go. That ship has sailed, that wizard has lost his magic, that magic doorway has closed.
It never gets easier. And there’s a balancing act between “am I ever gonna do this again,“ and a genuine “ I loved this, I still love it, and if somebody will just give me some dopamine, I’ll do it again.”
