Music post!

I’ve done several things today, but other than hanging a picture on the wall that I’ve been meaning to get up for a long time I don’t know that any of the things I’ve done are going to be anything anyone else living in this house is going to notice. At any rate, not much to say today, so I’m passing on a great cover of Tracy Chapman’s Fast Car that someone recommended to me on Mastodon. It’s great, you’ll love it:

#Fridayfictioneers: Move to the country! It’ll be great!

“Well, there’s your problem.”  The old man spat, then crossed himself.  “Faerie road, out there in the marshes. Pointed to your house.”

I blinked.  Twice.  “What?”

“Aye.  Brings the old ones out, it will.  The sounds, the bangs, the cracks, the bugs. None of it the house.  Their doing.  All of it.”

He leaned toward me.  “I know one who could fix it.  But not a carpenter.  An exterminator.”

Okay.  “What’s his name?”

“Don’t worry about that, now,” he said.  “Just … well, sometimes they’re angry when their roads are broken.  Consider moving.  Might be easier.”

Suddenly I really missed Chicago.

This song spent yesterday running through my head

On what happened to my money

music-thinkingI have purchased what seems like a considerable amount of music over the summer.  I feel like this list says something about me (other than “this sucker still pays for music,”) but I’m not exactly sure what:

  • Matisyahu, Akeda
  • Murs and ¡Mayday!, Mursday
  • Mika, The Boy Who Knew Too Much and Life in Cartoon Motion
  • YG, My Krazy Life
  • 3rd Bass, Derelicts of Dialect
  • Macy Gray, Covered
  • Phish, Fuego
  • Nappy Roots, The Pursuit of Nappyness
  • Tom Waits, Mule Variations
  • Weird Al Yankovic, Mandatory Fun
  • Lou Reed, Transformer
  • Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers, Hypnotic Eye

Toss in half-a-dozen or so individual tracks, too.

In case you’re wondering, there’s a Guardians of the Galaxy review coming, but probably not today.  I need to let this one roll around in my head a bit; the review’s gonna be more mixed than I wanted it to be but the parts I liked I liked a lot.
