You may recall that I’m doing this little project where I want to read 52 books by women of color this year. I’m on track right now, as this is the last week of March and I’m just over 1/4 of the way to that magic number– technically, The Book of M is book 14 and I’m reading book 15 right now. That said, I haven’t mentioned all of these books on the site, so I thought I’d do a quick cover gallery for the first quarter of the year.
So. So far, 1/4 of the way through #52booksbywomenofcolor, I’ve read the following:

I’ve done official reviews of a few of them, but not all; let me know if there’s anything any of y’all are curious about.

How is Kingdom of Copper? The first book had so much set-up.

I enjoyed it a lot— it moves the story along well and upends the status quo entirely by the end.

Kintu’s cover art got my attention (I know it shouldn’t matter but I often pick books on that basis, and title). Thoughts on it?

I enjoyed it, but I might have gotten more out of it if I knew something about Uganda. I think there’s a fair amount going on that I missed because of my utter lack of cultural background.

Also, my version has a different cover. 🙂

Any particular recommendations from this group? Besides The City, which I’ll be reading anyway. 🙂

I’ve enjoyed almost all of them; standouts are Deathless Divide, Kingdom of Virtue and Vengeance, The Deep, Slay, Zero Sum Game, and Kingdom of Copper so far. I enjoyed Eloquent Rage quite a bit when I read it but it hasn’t stuck with me well.
