Going to bed early

I’ve been asleep in a chair for about an hour and a half, and fuck it, I’m going to check off the handful of Things I Do Every Day and call it a night.

Eh, we’ll try again tomorrow

Today was either going to be the blogwanking post or a full reading round-up for the year, and I am filled with Chinese food and enough sodium to kill an elephant, and as such I’m not terribly interested in producing either of those posts. As such you’re either going to get a shitton of posts tomorrow or I’ll push some of them back into the first couple of days of 2025. Again, it ain’t like I’m on any real deadlines around here.

God damn it

Two days in a row of single-paragraph updates isn’t ideal, I know, but I’m doing the “staring at the screen and wishing I was doing something else” thing again, so I’m gonna see if I can beat Veilguard tonight instead of feeling guilty to my nonexistent obligations to my only-somewhat-existent public.

Y’all done with your Christmas shopping yet?

Starting off slow

Slept until ten this morning, which is the first time I’ve done that in a while, then spent the whole day reading and pushing through Veilguard, which I’m bound and determined to finish before Christmas. Now I’m on the couch, cat in my lap, watching British people make pottery.

Not bad for the first day of break.

In which life has other plans

Got home at 4:30, wrote a practice test, went to a thing for my kid’s school until 8, now I’m home, with one more test to write before I can sleep, and today was a heavy teaching day. Tomorrow will be too, and so will Wednesday. On the plus side, after Wednesday, I’m effectively done with teaching for the year, although there will be a few more days of school left.

So yeah. This is what y’all get tonight. Hugs!

Consider this a preview, I guess

Yes, I know I haven’t reviewed the Pearl Jam album yet.

I fucking love it. I’ve been sitting on writing about it to see if the shine wears off and it hasn’t. This is their best album in a long, long time– definitely since Avocado and probably before that.

But I’ve been shaky and nauseous since I got home this afternoon after a day of feeling fine, and we’re still doing state testing tomorrow so I absolutely cannot miss work under any circumstances, so I’m probably going to go to bed obscenely early tonight. I’ll try and get a fuller review tomorrow, but if you’ve ever enjoyed a Pearl Jam album, you need to download this one right the hell now.

This one’s not my fault

Did I mention I was a union rep again? Well, I am, and I had a meeting after school, so I didn’t get home until after 6, and then I had to eat something because diabeetus, and then we had to go pick my car up and hey did you know that the Kia Soul apparently has some sort of funky battery that doesn’t jump the same as other batteries and also costs a hell of a lot more, and if you’re thinking “Hey, Luther, that sounds fishy, you should look into that!” then you’re absolutely right I’m going to do that, and then I had to grade some tests and write some assignments and some emails, and now it’s 9 goddamn 13 and I’m going to bed so I can do it all tomorrow and Christ am I tired.

I think I’m still here

This was a long, long, LONG week, as we finished up state testing. I have no idea how I’m going to get through the rest of what we’re supposed to cover in either of my classes; I feel like testing ate up six damn weeks. I came home and fell asleep on the couch, and I am looking forward to not moving a whole hell of a lot for the next couple of days.

Resssssssst.
