What if enough people in each state voted for a third party candidate? This may just happen in my state.
Then we’d have an utter incompetent in office with no Congressional backing, and he or she would be voted out in four years with absolutely nothing helpful to anyone having happened in between.
Much like electing Trump, I suppose, except without the nuclear war.
That said, the Evan McMullin thing kind of fascinates me. He can have Utah. 🙂
