In which c’mon, Medcline, help a blogger out

Any of y’all have any pull with Medcline? I wanna try out their shoulder pillow. The CPAP means I can’t sleep on my stomach anymore (well, okay, the sleep apnea means I can’t sleep on my stomach anymore) and I’m tired of shoulder pain and waking up with my hands asleep. I’m sleeping a thousand times better than before I had the CPAP but I feel like there’s still room for improvement. That said, I’m not willing to drop the kind of money they want for their system on something I can’t see or touch before I buy it. Therefore they have to respect my status as an Internet Influencer and send me one for free. I have prior experience with reviewing pillows! How many Important Influencers can say that? Not many, I tell you.

So, yeah, get on that, y’all. I’m 5’10”, by the way, since that appears to matter.

There will be no ranting about postcards tonight, because I’m taking the night off, and no ranting about school either, because the boy is still sick and I ended up having to stay home with him today since my wife had unavoidable commitments at her job. He went to urgent care on Monday and was greeted with a shrug and a “Man, viruses are a bitch sometimes, aren’t they? Bring him to his regular doctor if he’s not better in a few days.” Today we took him to his regular doctor and were greeted with a shrug and a “Man, viruses are a bitch sometimes, aren’t they? Bring him back if he’s not better in a few days.” All I know is the kid’s been sleeping 20 hours a day for a week and a half but that doesn’t seem to be helping anyone find anything actually wrong with him.

Anyway. Another part of the reason I’m not doing postcards tonight is that it’s somehow 7:00 already and despite being home all day I don’t have anything ready for tomorrow yet. The fact that I spent the whole day screwing around on BlueSky might have something to do with that, I suppose. (Follow me on BlueSky, while I’m begging for stuff!) So I probably ought to go do some lesson planning now, I suppose.

What just happened?

I took a nap today. It was a pretty good nap, but the fact that I can’t tell you a single other thing that I did today is kind of alarming.

What did you do today?

Taking the night off

I have managed to set it up so that I have no lesson planning to do this week, and no photocopying to do in the morning, which means I came home and died on the couch, and now I want to go die on the couch some more. Go hug somebody.

Well, that’s better

Joe Lieberman died today, so it’s already kind of a heavy lift to make today a bad day when that’s the main headline, but school didn’t go poorly either, although I’m going to wait until tomorrow to make any judgments about whether my new method of test prep worked at all. They appeared to know things about transformations at the end of the day, but we all know the evidence of your eyes can be tricksy.

Oh, and I sent my wife a text begging her to prevent me from falling asleep on the couch at 6:47 and then when I woke up at 8:04 I sent another text that just said “LOL,” because I don’t think Christ and an army of horny angels could have kept me from falling asleep on the couch today. And now I’m here, writing a blog post, and hopefully within half an hour or so I’ll be asleep again, so there’s Wednesday done and dusted, I suppose.

where am i

Got home from work, sat down in a recliner, and then it was two hours later and my eyes were stuck shut. It’s possible that I should go to bed early tonight.

Nope

I was gonna blog tonight but instead I took my kid to get a weirdly-scheduled evening MRI (he’s fine, don’t worry) and now that I’m back home all I want to do is sleep.

So. Yeah.

Okay so far so good

Today was not a bad day by any measure, and a few revisions in my rosters led to two classes becoming substantially easier and one becoming slightly– manageably, I think– more difficult. You could tell that it was the first day back from break– I’ve never had more kids fall asleep or try to fall asleep in class than I did today, and by the end of the day I just stopped worrying about it. Yeah, it’s fucking stupid that you went to bed at 4:00 in the morning and only got two hours of sleep, but none of these kids live in my house and I can’t control their sleep schedules and I know they’ll be back to normal by the end of the week.

Which, granted, still means some of them are going to try and sleep through class every day, but not remotely as many. I’ll take “back to baseline” without complaint, I think.

Meanwhile, speaking of sleep schedules, it is 7:20, I am dead tired, I am anticipating a two-hour delay tomorrow (they won’t cancel, but the worst of the weather will be between 1 and 7 AM, which is never a good sign) and I will be in bed by 9:00 tonight or die trying.

How was your Monday?

In which I can see the future

Tomorrow’s lesson is not going to work, and it’s going to be an exhausting day, and this is after coming home yesterday and taking a nap and coming home today and it’s 6:41 and I had a pound of queso for dinner and I really really want to take another nap.

Blaaaaaaarrrrrghhhhh.
